eco-unescos-young-environmentalist-award-300x157

Huge congratulate our Sixth Class who are the overall national winners of the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Award for primary schools. The class explored the area of sustainable food by using our geodome to plant vegetables and herbs. Huge congratulations to our Sixth Class team – Chloe, Chantelle and Terri – for their support of the pupils with this project. I must also acknowledge the role of our parents in achieving this award as a group of them were involved in the design and construction of the geodome in 2019.

This is a huge achievement for our school and I am delighted that this award acknowledges our school’s interest in environmental awareness and care. This is an area that is close to the hearts of our pupils and staff and is a key strand of our ethical education programme (Ethics and the Environment). I hope that the award leads to a continued interest in environmental issues and sustainability for our school community.

Le dea-ghuí,
Alan.
